About "The Remains of the Day" my Party!

Yabloko Party:

“The long-awaited premiere of Alexander Gnezdilov's video play "The Remains of the Day" took place on the YouTube channel "Say Yes to the World!" It is a stage adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel of the same name.

The story of the impeccable English butler Stevens is a tale of blind loyalty that leads the hero to turn a blind eye to his master's political games on the eve of World War II. Hiding behind a screen of professional duty, pious traditions, and impeccable manners, the hero renounces his own critical perspective and becomes an unwitting accomplice to an impending historical catastrophe.

Unlike the well-known 1993 film, which focused primarily on the protagonist's personal life, Alexander Gnezdilov's play focuses on the historical and sociopolitical arc of the novel, the problem of conformity and personal responsibility for events in the world.

The Remains of the Day was written in 1989 and won the Booker Prize. Today, it is rightfully recognized as one of the most important works of the 20th century and a classic of modern British literature. Vladimir Skorodenko translated the book into Russian.

Alexander Gnezdilov is a theater director and a member of the Yabloko party's political committee.

The premiere of the play "The Remains of the Day" on the YouTube channel "Say Yes to the World!" took place on April 7 at 7:00 PM. The link to the broadcast is now permanent, so you can watch it at your convenience — https://youtu.be/p9a_2im_PAE .”
