Release all political prisoners!

Independent municipal deputies demanded the termination of the "Moscow case" and called on all citizens to participate in mass support of political prisoners.

The statement was adopted at the V Congress of Independent Municipal Deputies, held on October 3 in Moscow.

The speaker on this issue was Elena Filina, a municipal deputy elected from the Yabloko party. In her speech, she stressed that the defendants in the "Moscow case" were accused of a crime that did not happen: there were no mass riots, people peacefully, within the framework of the law, went to protest against lies, lies organized by the authorities.

We present the text of the adopted political statement in full.

The situation with political prisoners Statement of the Fifth Congress of Independent Deputies

We, independent municipal deputies, participants of the Fifth Congress declare the inadmissibility of political repression in our country and demand respect for the Constitution in the field of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.

We demand the repeal of Article 212, Part 1 of the Criminal Code and the release of Konstantin Kotov, as a man who devoted his activities to the struggle for peace and freedom.

We demand the release of all political prisoners in the Moscow case of the fictional “mass riots.” We call on our fellow municipal deputies, deputies of the Moscow City Duma, political activists and civil society in general to participate in mass support of prisoners, and we invite all reasonable and healthy forces of our society to join an active civil movement with these demands.

Every responsible citizen today should devote part of his free time to helping political prisoners. You can help by spreading information, sending letters to the prison, collecting money for families and prisoners, and attending the courts. It is very important to take part in street actions: to go out on single and mass pickets, rallies.

Each of us now, as a deputy and as a citizen of our country, can contribute to the cause of freedom for those who fought for a free society and are now illegally convicted. Each of us can use our professional resources. We are grateful to the actors who create videos to remind us of the lawless situation. We are grateful to the lawyers who defended Konstantin Kotov for a nominal fee of 212 rubles.10 kopecks. We are grateful to all professional communities who spoke out against political repression. We hope that other associations of honest and brave citizens will join them.

Only if a vibrant civil society stands up to the repressive machine will we be able to defend our human dignity and the freedom of political prisoners. Every day is now not only the slogan of the summer election protests, but the slogan of all honest people who are fighting for the freedom of political prisoners. Every day. See you Win. Before Freedom.

It is our duty to continue to seek the release of those illegally convicted: to remember this, to talk about it, to write about it, and to demand it. It is not enough to "live without lying" and not directly participate in the criminal actions of the current government. Each of us is responsible for our country. And if our neighbors got under the system's roller yesterday, then tomorrow it will definitely be our turn. This is how the mafia state and its repressive mechanism work. Practically the only chance to stand up and defeat the system is organized political resistance, which begins with mass unification in the ranks of the opposition party (see "Louder voice! Oleg Sentsov's fate is inextricably linked with the future of Russia, with the future of our children. Without changing policy towards Ukraine, without stopping the imposition of life according to Kremlin rules on Kiev, without abandoning the so-called "doctrine of limited sovereignty", without resolving relations with Ukraine, without ending the war in Donbass (see "Donbass: the path to peace", April 2019 https://www.yavlinsky.ru/news/mir/donbass-mir), Without the initiative to convene an international conference on Crimea, the normal development of our country is impossible, and it is impossible to ensure our national interests and security in the modern world. #Louder voice#FreeSentsov - Grigory Yavlinsky.
